Dandora Activist Caroline Mwatha’s memorial service was yesterday held at the Uhuru Park’s Freedom Corner.
The service which was organized by human rights defenders was attended by former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, Human Rights Commission executive director George Kegoro, politician Martha Karua and Women Rep Esther Passari.
Human Rights Commission executive director George Kegoro made a speech and persistently said that Mwatha was killed. “Even as the investigations are going on, we know for a fact that Caroline did not kill herself, she was killed by somebody who was offended by her work,” he said.
Also attending the ceremony were Mwatha’s parents, as well as her husband, Joshua Ochieng’ who were filled with grief and sorrow due to the loss of their daughter.
Mwatha’s father, Stanislaus Mbai denied that she died of excessive bleeding. “I will never understand how I did not notice her pregnancy because in noticed nothing from the photo last shared by her friends during the week of her disappearance,” Mbai said.
In addition, the grieved father asked Kenyans to pray for the family.
The 37-year-old will be buried in Rarieda, Siaya, tomorrow.
